Nia - Hey, everyone. Look at Zawadi in that silly outfit! S he looks like a clown!

Zawadi - Oh yeah? You want to fight? Come on, I will fight you! You are just a little punk!

Sunny - ( coming in between Nia and Zawadi ) Wait a minute, Zawadi and Nia. It sounds like you are not making very good decisions and you need to work out some feelings. Today we are going to learn more about bullies and teasing. Did you know that everyone gets teased sometimes, and many people act like bullies? It is important to learn all we can so we can protect ourselves. Everyone deserves to be treated nicely. No one deserves to be teased or bullied. Let us meet some of our friends from Sunshine Center and learn more about teasing and bullies. Javier, can you share with the boys and girls some of your experiences?

Javier - Hi, boys and girls. My name is Javier Javier - Hi, boys and girls. My name is Javier. Boy do I know what it is like to be teased! I am much smaller than other children my age. People used to make fun of me and call me "shorty" or "baby." You know, that would make me so sad. I would cry all the time, and then they would keep teasing me. I thought that if I cried it would make them stop. But that was not taking care of me and just made it worse. I did not even want to go to school because I was afraid they would make fun of me. Well, I learned from Sunny and my friends at Sunshine Center that I can ignore someone when they tease me. Sometimes I still feel sad, and even cry, but I take care of myself. I talk to my mom or talk to a friend about it, and that helps a lot. Maybe I am smaller than many other people, but being smaller makes me special.

Sunny - Wow, Javier thank you for sharing with us! You really looked on the brighter side of things . You learned how to handle things in a positive way when you are teased. Ignoring someone is a good skill. I know you still feel sad when they tease you, but at least you talk to someone, and that helps you feel better and take care of yourself . Bullies will tease people for all different reasons.

Sunny - A bully is someone who treats others in a mean way. They may hit you or try to make you listen to them. Many times bullies will tease you and call you names. A bully may even ignore you and try to get others to not be your friend.
